WAUSAU (WAOW) -- For some parents,
it's hard to keep obscene images on TV and online away from children.
But the group Morality in Media of Marathon County is trying to change that.
They held their annual White Ribbons Against
Pornography event in Wausau Sunday afternoon. The white ribbons signify
a stance against obscenity in the media.
Group members want to reach out to the community to
inform people where pornography is and how to avoid it. Especially at
places, like grocery stores, where certain books and magazines are clearly
visible.
"We're trying to gather some support,"
explained group president Ron Putzer. "notify the people that run
the stores and ask them kindly to remove the books or put what they call
blinders over it so children can't see it when they're coming through the
checkout line."
Group members are also currently trying to urge
local video stores to stop carrying pornographic videos.
